I’m currently working on a Twitter Mashup.
You can see a video demonstration in the bottom of this post.
The idea is actually quite simple. I have worked out an algorithm, that can make a giant mosaic from any Twitter Profile Image. The final image will be around 100 megapixels, and will be made from 50.000 small 45×45 pixel thumbnails from your followers profile images. The follower-images will be sorted beautifully to resemble the colors in your Twitter Profile Image. You can see a small scale version to the right, and make sure to see the demo video below.

Hi Lars,
That rocks. It would be great if you could upload one of these images into an Ahead space (www.ahead.com free Signup) that you could embed here on your blog so people could zoom into it without any load problems. Alternatively you’re welcome to do a file share and I’ll do it for you.
Example space with hi res images:

Hi Henrik,
Thank you for your comment. The embedded photobrowser is a great idea! I have uploaded the file to Ahead, and right now I’m waiting for it to finish the compression. I will update this post with a photo browser when it’s done

Hi Klaus,
I just updated the post with a full 100 megapixel version of the image. I’m still working with Henrik from Ahead.com (@ahead_com) on a solution using their more sophisticated high-res photobrowser, compared to the simplyfied Zoomify-solution above
Ah! I love that! How do people do that? Form an image from many smaller images? How does one even start? So fascinating, I love the video you uploaded. Thanks for sharing.
